Who we are
Sir Peter Ogden and David Spencer-Percival started trading as Spencer Ogden in 2010, opening two state-of-the-art offices in London and Aberdeen. It was a game-changing combination of David’s extensive recruitment experience and Sir Peter’s expertise in building large successful businesses.

1 . Regional Business Development Manager

The Region Business Development Manager is responsible for delivering new business across all our ranges and for establishing long term client relationships.

Principal Accountabilities

1. To establish/maintain an effective client account network through each Area for the purpose of delivering business growth.
2. To directly deliver high value contract wins.
3. To develop strategies/tactics which promote business growth on a client, product and geographic basis.
4. To ensure the quality of proposals/tenders which confirm to Group review procedures and are aligned to client requirements.
5. To co-ordinate and deliver regular market analysis and feedback to Region and Group on clients and competitors.
6. To provide marketing material which promotes the Group in the optimum manner.
7. To provide commercial analysis/innovation to support business growth.

Job Context and Main Activities


To ensure technical integrity of any tenders and proposals.
Product Line
To deliver business opportunities that meet the required Group financial criteria.
To complete risk/financial evaluations based on BER.
To seek innovative commercial strategies that maximise profit.

HR Management

To manage the region Business Development team to deliver maxim group value.
To functionally develop and mentor the Area BD teams.

Marketing / Sales

To monitor the market and develop clear strategies for competing successfully.
To develop / implement effective high level client account plans.
To develop / implement effective high level product specific sales plans.
Decision making Authority/Level of supervision required
Minimum supervision subject to agreement on strategy and appropriate group approval processes.


Clients- maintain senior level client relationships for the purpose of supporting existing work and securing new business.

SSA Area Managers - Coordination of efforts / alignment in approach and to assist the Area Managers develop their business and put in place local Area BD teams.

SSA Technical Manager - Alignment of technical expectations / product and service capabilities and client support.

Region director - strategy and high level planning.

Group Global Account Managers (GAM) - coordination efforts, leverage GAM contacts to advance Region objectives.

Group Sales / Support / SBU functions - consistency of process, reporting and approach. Input to major capital project bids.

Job Challenges
Communication with Area Managers - alignment of expectations, targets and resources. Setting client expectations and positioning the company for success. Delivering continual sales growth.

Job Knowledge and Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal skills, actively seeks opportunities, broad industry experience, negotiation skills, leadership, sound HR management, innovative, competent financial management. Minimum of 10-15 years' experience in Business Development especially within the oil industry.
